We feel your child’s first school experience should be a comfortable and positive experience. The week before your child begins attending preschool we will schedule a few visiting days for you and your child. During these visits you and your child will have the opportunity to become better acquainted with the environment, teachers and children. Your child’s teacher will observe your child and will guide the rest of your child’s adjustment into preschool.
All of our teacher’s educational backgrounds have a minimum of 12 ECE units. Many of our teachers have 27 unit ECE certificates, AA & Bachelor degrees. Our staff is enrolled in annual conferences with the California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC), and our staff continuously pursues additional training and education.
An estimated 30% of staff has been with Home Sweet Home over 10 years, and an estimated 50% of staff has been with Home Sweet Home over 5 years. To retain qualified and satisfied career staff we provide a team building environment and a full benefits package with: Medical Insurance, 3 weeks vacation, sick days, holidays, and other incentives.
Our children are interacting with a large group of children for the first time. With that in mind, teachers focus on helping the children in their class learn to work together with their friends and help take care of each other. We use positive reinforcement and modeling techniques to encourage positive behavior. If a child becomes aggressive our teachers discuss the problem in a soft, calm voice with the children involved. The children are encouraged to come up with a solution and to help take care of their friend. Teachers will discuss any continual behavioral concerns with the child’s parents.
Our teachers are available on a daily basis to answer questions about your child’s day. Each center has a parent board at the entrance. This board is kept current with up to date information regarding upcoming events. Our preschool participates in documentation via digital photos, children’s portfolios and daily posting of “News of the Day”. This includes snap shots of your child’s day and dialogue explaining the activities that were presented throughout the day. We also schedule 2 conferences per year. The Preschool and Toddler Center teachers are provided cell phones to communicate with parents as needed during the school day.
We have a 1 week summer break, a 2 ½ week winter break, and we celebrate all of the major holidays.
Please see “Tuition” under “Admissions” section of our home page.
Tuition increases typically take effect from January to March. Parents are notified about increases with a 30 day advance notice.
Home Sweet Home provides a healthy morning & afternoon snack. Parents provide lunch.
The monthly tuition is payable whether your child is present in school or not. This includes the summer months if you are planning to continue enrollment in the fall. There will be no refunds nor can the child make up missed time.
We believe in creating a community environment for all of our children. All children participate in a regular music and movement class provided by an outside musician. Home Sweet Home also schedules special visitors such as: Petting Zoos, Reptile Zoos, Fire Fighters and Bubble Shows.
Home Sweet Home and our children thrive from parent involvement. We have Scholastic Book Club Coordinators, Parent Meetings, Family Events, Thanksgiving Feast, Pot Luck Dinners, Halloween Festival, Teacher Appreciation Week, & Family Picnics. Parents with any special talents or free time are always welcome!
Children who are sick require close attention and care. If your child shows symptoms such as: Fever, Diarrhea, vomiting, unexplained rash, pink eye etc. we ask that you keep your child at home until he/she is symptom free for 24 hours. If a child becomes ill while they are at school, the child’s parents will be called immediately and asked to pick up their child.
